As you are gearing up for a new school year I want to talk about our supply list and explain a few details that are different for our classroom. A list was made in the spring by the 3rd-5th grade teachers that is general and easy for parents to follow. If you have already purchased your supplies GREAT, do not worry about any changes you see in the list. There are some items I have stocked up or am recycling so I do not expect students to bring the optional items you see on this list:
The basics every students should make sure to bring are:
3 folders (vinyl holds up best, but paper is fine if you already have them)
pencil sharper
60 pencils (mechanical or wood are fine) Erasers
3 composition notebooks
a pencil box
EARBUDS OR HEADPHONES,
Expo markers
highlighters (need at least 3 colors)
You will see a few new items and may wonder why these are asked for:
Snacks- We have snack time daily but I do not provide these for students. If you are willing to send a box of granola bars or fruit snacks it is always appreciated for those students that do not have a snack. Be mindful to provide one for your own student.
Business envelopes and a book of stamps- Writing letters is a life applicable skill students will learn this year and a standard we work hard to master. Covering the cost of postage for 25 students is to much for one person and the district will not. We will be writing letters to parents weekly, Veterans, NASA space center and local organizations. The return address used is the schools and students only use their first names. Thank you for helping us learn this valuable skill.
The remaining items are optional because we have a large collection we share as a community, or may be provided in limited amounts from the school. Also needed are Kleenex and paper towels. These would be great additions to help our classroom. We have an Amazon Classroom Wishlist that includes snacks, sanitizing items, books and other things we can use in the classroom. There are no set budgets for classrooms so any extra assistance in funding our classroom is always appreciated!
Thanks so much,
Mrs. Brown
